Quintin Daniels, 6-0, 180, Los Angeles Loyola, had nothing but positive things to say about UCLA's hiring of Karl Dorrell as its head football coach.

Daniels said, "He [Dorrell] seems like a real cool guy. He has an impressive background with the Broncos, Washington and Colorado. And he is a wide receiver. I like that."

Does it pique his interest in UCLA? "A little bit. I really don't know too much about him, but it does a little bit."

Daniels made a recent appearance at a UCLA bowl practice.  "I went to watch the team practice for the Las Vegas Bowl last Saturday. I talked to the coaches when I was there. The UCLA coaches have been calling since they fired Bob Toledo."

As far as trips go, he is about to start the official visit period of his recruitment. "I am heading to Washington this weekend. This will be my first visit. Then I have three visits in January." Daniels is scheduled to go to Stanford on January 10th, Cal on January 17th, and said, "I am scheduled to go to UCLA on January 24. That is my last visit."

Asked which school is recruiting him the hardest right now, Daniels said, "I would say all of those schools that I will be taking trips to along with Oregon, USC and Arizona State."

Asked about having a favorite, he said, "Kind of yeah. Stanford is still a slight favorite." Daniels has submitted his application to Stanford. "I should find out by the beginning of next week if I am accepted."
