The elite defensive end/linebacker from Texas, Bruce Davis, whose parents both attended UCLA, said he's up in the air over the UCLA situation. He said he could very well pull the trigger on one of two other schools...
We caught Bruce Davis, 6-3, 220, League City (Tex.) Clear Creek, on his cell phone while on his official visit to Arkansas.
Davis said he was having a good time on the visit, and said that, after having taken a trip to Colorado, that he might be close to a decision.
"I have trips arranged for LSU and Oklahoma," Davis said, "but I don't think I'm going to take them. My top three are Arkansas, Colorado and UCLA."
Davis did say that the situation surrounding UCLA might be holding up his decision. Wednesday evening Davis hadn't heard that Karl Dorrell had been named the UCLA coach. When told, he said, "I don't know about him. I'll have to ask around about him. I don't know what I'll do about UCLA. I'll have to talk to my mom about it. The new coach there would be a big matter. I've gotten to know the ones there now. So, I'd like to know if any of them are going to stay. I've been recruited by coach Johnson at UCLA. I just want to see who they keep on their staff. If they didn't keep him, it would probably make me cross them off my list."
Davis is the son of a former Bruin player whose mother also attended UCLA. His parents are close with many in the UCLA community, including the family of current UCLA freshman, Eric McNeal.
Because of that UCLA connection, Davis said he's giving UCLA some time, but not much. "I'm waiting to see what's up with UCLA and I'll have to talk to my parents about it. If we don't like the new situation there, I'll choose between Arkansas and Colorado here pretty soon."
