Commits to UDub, Then Reconsiders

Stanjarivus McKay, the 6-2, 210-pound safety prospect from Long Beach (Calif.) Poly who verbally committed to UCLA last week, took an official visit to Washington, verbally committed to the Huskies, and then reconsidered... spoke with Stanjarivus McKay, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound free safety prospect from Long Beach (Calif.) Poly, and he took a surprise official visit to Washington this weekend. After the visit it appeared that the UCLA commit was headed in another direction. But the world of recruiting takes crazy turns, as McKay found out Sunday.
"I took all my trips, and of all the trips I like this one the most," McKay said Sunday morning, confirming that he had changed his mind and committed to Washington. "I like the coaching staff and how the program is ran. But I committed to UCLA, so I guess I have to decommit there first before I can commit to Washington."

So following through with McKay's wishes, we held off reporting the news until he had a chance to get home and talk about it with the UCLA coaches.

"The trip was fine, it was nice, but I'm going to stick with my heart and go with UCLA," McKay said after getting home. "I did some rethinking about it. (Committing to Washington) seemed like the right thing to do at the time, but UCLA is the school I've wanted to go to since I was a little kid. I thought about the pros and cons of both schools and I'm going to stick with UCLA."

McKay did say that he would be having in-homes with the Bruins on Tuesday and the Huskies on Wednesday, but right now it looks like Stan McKay is going to stay close to home and play for UCLA.
