Elite Georgia LB Has UCLA Interest

Brandon Smith is an elite linebacker prospect from Carver High School in Columbus, Georgia. He is reeling in several scholarship offers and will attend his first Junior Day this Saturday. Smith talked about the early offers and named favorites...

Brandon Smith said he already has received a good number of scholarship offers.

"I have offers from Georgia, Miami, Florida State, Clemson, Oregon and South Alabama," said Brandon Smith. "I have a few others, but I can't remember."

"I am getting interest from Alabama, UCLA, Vanderbilt and UAB. Alabama wants me to come to their Junior Day this weekend."

"Clemson was the first school to offer me. They offered last spring. Florida was the last school to offer. They offered two weeks ago. I haven't been to any Junior Day yet, but I am going to Alabama this weekend."

Smith noted the list will likely change, but early favorites include Florida State, Georgia, UCLA and UAB.

"I like all those programs right now," he said. "I like the coaches, and how they get their players ready for the game. I like how those programs stay on top of the players about their academics."

Smith does not expect to wait until National Signing Day to announce a decision.

"I can see myself making an early decision," he said. "I think I can make my decision hopefully after the state championship game."

The thought process has already started as to what this playmaker will seek in his college choice.

"I am looking for a good degree," Smith said. "I want to go somewhere I feel comfortable. I want to go somewhere I will get playing time."

The 6-foot-3, 230-pound prospect recorded seven sacks as a junior. He can bench 300-pounds, squat 425 and power clean 280.

"I am a good motivator," Smith stated. "I am good verbal leader. I play hard on every down, and never quit. I am working on getting stronger and faster."
