Penn. Athlete Gets UCLA Offer

Dakota Royer, the 6-2, 220-pound athlete from Manheim (Penn.) Manheim Central, continues to see his scholarship offer list grow, he is simply waiting to take some visits and actually shorten the list of possible schools he could attend. He recently picked up two more offers and took an unofficial visit...

Manheim Central High School defensive end Dakota Royer added two more offers from Syracuse and UCLA this week and the 6-foot-2, 220-pound athlete also visited Penn State.

"My visit to Penn State was good," Royer said. "I met with the academic people and they went over how they would help me and what they would have to offer for me. After that we went to lunch where the students eat before meeting with one of the professors. He talked to me about the business program and also explained it to my parents who were impressed too."

"Then I went over and met with Coach Vanderlinden and Coach Thompson and got to sit in with the linebackers in their meeting. I stopped over at practice and then just ate dinner with all of the players. I talked to a lot of players and they were really cool with me and my parents."

"Recently, I got offers from UCLA and Syracuse as well. UCLA is definitely a big one as it's all the way on the other side of the country. They have a good program and offer a great education."

Royer leaves on April 16th to visit Michigan State, Notre Dame and Illinois and will return home the 19th. He plans to have his final seven by the end of April and has mentioned he'd like to make a final decision before his senior season. There is a chance he'll commit on his birthday which is June 16th.
