Alex Ghebreselassie,, the wide receiver prospect from Chula Vista who had committed to UCLA -- and then reopened his recruiting -- now says he's "sticking with" his commitment to UCLA...
Alex Ghebreselassie, 6-3, 180, Chula Vista (Calif.) Bonita Vista, said that he considers himself committed to UCLA.
"I'm still sticking with my commitment to UCLA," he said.
A couple of weeks ago, Ghebreselassie said he was reopening his recruitment. "Well, I was a little worried about the coaching staff. At first I was kind of shaky when they fired Toledo, so I wanted to go make sure. So I took a trip to San Diego State (Dec. 20th). And I scheduled one for Oklahoma on January 17th."
Ghebreselassie said that the hiring of Karl Dorrell as UCLA's head coach went a long way to then making him decide to go to UCLA – again. "My parents talked to him and they liked him. He's a receivers coach, and I really like that. So, that made me decide I wanted to stay with my commitment."
Whether he'll still trip to Oklahoma is up in the air. "I'm tripping to UCLA first, on the 10th. A lot depends on what happens on that trip. I still might trip to Oklahoma. But I'm happy with the new UCLA coach. I've heard a lot of great things about him and haven't heard anything bad about him. So, if everything goes well on my trip to UCLA on January 10th, it might all be done by then."
