Taula Wants to Stay in Pac-10

Kirifi Taula, the 6-4, 285-pound defensive tackle prospect from Anaheim (Calif.) Servite, has three scholarship offers, two from the Pac-10, and he's still looking for more. He talks about his recruitment...

Anaheim (Calif.) Servite defensive tackle Kirifi Taula is one of the top interior lineman in the Southland, and already Taula has three scholarship offers.

"Oregon State, Arizona and Wake Forest have all offered me," said Taula. "I think California and Oregon are next to offer me. USC and UCLA have been talking to me too. I got some good options."

The 6-4, 285-pound Taula is hoping to stay in the west, specifically in the Pac-10.

"I really want to stay in the Pac-10," said Taula. "I'd like to stay close to home, maybe in California, but I want to play in the Pac-10. I went to USC's Junior Day and I'm going to visit UCLA later this month."

Taula said USC was his dream school growing up, and former teammates Chris Galippo, Matt Kalil and D.J. Shoemate helped to make the Trojans the team he followed.

"Everyone in Southern California wants to go to USC and I'm really close to Coach (Frank) Kalil and I know a lot about what USC is like," said Taula. But at this point, Taula said he's wide open and not focusing on any one school. "I like Oregon State, Arizona, Oregon, Cal, USC and UCLA," said Taula. "I want to go through the process and take all of my visits."

Taula is planning a busy spring and summer, with camps at USC and UCLA as well as the Scout.com Combine. He also attended the Nike Camp in Los Angeles this past weekend.

As a junior, Taula was a First Team All-Trinity League pick on the defensive line for the Friars, helping them to a share of the Trinity League title.

Academically, he has a 3.1 GPA and will take the SAT on June 6th.
