Gelaun Wheelwright, 6-0 SO PG/SG Corona (Calif.) Centennial, is one of the elite prospects in the west for 2011. Wheelwright is very long (6-7 wingspan), with a high skill level and excellent athleticism.

I spoke with Wheelwright recently and asked about the schools expressing interest in him.

"The main one so far has been UCLA, I was just there for an unofficial visit Monday with my Dad," said Wheelwright.

I asked Wheelwright how the visit went.

"It went pretty good, we were there from 11:00 to around 3:00 or 4:00," said Wheelwright. "We met with Coach Howland, got some lunch and walked around the campus. I like the campus. I also met with the assistants and they were pretty nice."

When questioned about other programs expressing interest, Wheelwright replied, "Tim Floyd spoke with my coach and they want me to come on an unofficial visit. We've also been talking to Washington, UNLV, Arizona State, Cal and Wake Forest."

I asked Wheelwright if he's thought at all about the factors that will influence his decision.

"I'd kind of like to go someplace where they get the rebound and go, since that's how I like to play," said Wheelwright.

When I asked him about a time frame for his decision, Wheelwright said, "I'm waiting to see which schools offer. I'd like to know if they're going to be recruiting anyone else at my position."

A good student, Wheelwright currently has a GPA around 3.8.
