2010 Prospect Intro: Troy Ware

The 6-2, 170-pound wide receiver prospect, Troy Ware from Vista, Calif., is going to spring camps, and having college coaches come by his campus during the evaluation period. He gives us a rundown on where his recruitment stands...

Vista (Calif.) receiver Troy Ware (6-2, 170) is utilizing the spring to get to some camps and combines and also get eyeballed by college coaches visiting the San Diego campus.

"A couple of schools are coming to watch me and a few have already been by," said Ware. "UCLA was here (last) Friday, and they want me to go to their camp. Boise State was here last Wednesday. California, Oregon and Arizona State are all supposed to be coming by, too. John Morton from USC is coming to watch me work out the week of May 18th. And Portland State will also be coming out sometime that week."

Ware is still waiting for his first scholarship offer and is confident that an offer is coming. The dialogue he's had with coaches lends support to that.

"I was invited and went to Cal for their Junior Day and I liked their coaches and I'll be going to their camp. USC, I'm going to their camp, too, and I've been going there since I was a kid. UCLA, I went up for one of their spring practices and I'm going to camp there, too. Most of the coaches said to come to their camps," said Ware.

Ware said he has five schools that are standing out for him. "I'd say Cal, USC, UCLA, Boise State and Arizona State are my top schools," said Ware. "I'm pretty sure I'll get an offer from one of them by the beginning of the season."

Ware's dad, Tim, played football at USC, so the Trojans have long been a favorite, but he's wide open. "I've always liked SC and always wanted to go there. I pretty much grew up a Trojan. But I wouldn't mind going to another school. We'll see what happens," said Ware.

All of Ware's attention is coming as a receiver, and at the numerous camps he'll attend, he's focusing on that. He's scheduled to attend the Scout.com Combine, and the camps at Cal, UCLA and USC in the next few months and could add more, while doing passing league with Vista.

As far as a decision date is concerned, Ware isn't rushing his choice. "I'll probably do it at the beginning or end of my senior season," said Ware.

Academically, Ware has a 3.4 GPA and took the SAT last weekend.

During his 2008 junior season, Ware had 28 receptions for 620 yards and scored six touchdowns.
