Hinder Commits To California

One of UCLA's chief quarterback targets, Steamboat Springs (Colo.) passer Austin Hinder, chose Pac-10 rival Cal...

With offers from the who's who of college fotball, Scout.com three-star quarterback Austin Hinder tells Scout.com that has ended his recruitment.

He tells us moments ago, "I committed to Cal today."

Among Hinder's (6-5 180) suitors were UCLA, Alabama, Notre Dame, Kansas, Colorado, Colorado State, Nebraska, LSU, Stanford, and Kansas State.

And telling these schools that he had made his choice was tough for Austin.

He explains, "I called the coaches at UCLA, USC, Notre Dame and Stanford. My phone has not stopped ringing for the past twenty minutes so I am sure everyone else will know soon."

So in the end, why did Austin pick Cal?

"They had my big three of academics, location and coaching staff. They have one of the best coaching staffs in the nation, they are in the bay area and the Business School of Cal is one of the best in the nation." He continues, "I woke up this morning and said 'I need to get this done. I know I am going to Cal."

He says it was his visit last week the made his mind up for him.

And Austin was very upfront about stating that he is a firm Cal commit.

"I am only going to take one official visit and that is to Cal. I am going to go when they play SC."

As a junior Hinder threw for 1,228 yards and 16 TDs while throwing just 4 INTs.
