Michael Pitre, 5-11, 245, 4.5,
"I loved it," he said. "It was fun. Junior Taylor was my host. I like all the new coaches. Coach (Eric) Bieniemy and all the other coaches are real cool. He did a little film session with me for about a half an hour. He was just helping me out, and he seems like he really knows his position. A lot of guys really like him. Overall I loved everything, the campus and the area."
Regarding head coach Karl Dorrell, Pitre said, "He is a real nice guy. He is real down to Earth, like most of the coaches, and he seems to be real enthused."
Pitre met up with another official visitor, defensive lineman Blake Smith -- again. The two of them were on an official visit to Colorado State in December at the same time. "I was hoping Blake would commit while I was at UCLA with him, but he really seemed to like the trip because he is from Oklahoma and he said he had never been around a city like that. But he did seem to like it a lot."
Once again the dining choices made quite an impression on a recruit. "They took us to some great restaurants. The first night we went to the Napa Valley Grill, and then on the second night we went to Lawry's for dinner. That was really good. Before we went to Lawry's we had a busy Saturday. They took us down to the Rose Bowl and gave us all a tour of the stadium and the locker room. Then we went back to campus to watch the St. John's basketball game. Then we got to see the new facilities that are under construction right next to Pauley. They are going to have a brand new weight room and new locker room." (Pitre is a weight room fanatic. He presses 375 pounds).
As far as whether the other recruits on official visits were having a very enjoyable time, Pitre said, "Oh yeah. I mean all the guys on the trip really liked it a lot. The whole time we were together most of the guys were talking about how they aren't taking any more trips because they had so much fun on this one and they just wanted to commit as soon as they went back home and talked to their parents about it."
Pitre had some specific information regarding some of the other recruits as well. "The guy from
Pitre will be coming to campus in August for fall practice, but he intends to make a few visits to campus before then. "I'm going to go up to campus a little bit to watch some of the spring practices. I'm just looking forward to the summer rolling around because everybody seems to be really enthusiastic about getting going."
