Shabazz Muhammad, 6-4 SO SG Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman, is one of the elite prospects in the country for 2012. A lefty with a terrific frame, Muhammad is a high-level athlete with outstanding skills. Beyond the skills, athleticism and body, though, Muhammad also has a great approach to the game. His decision-making, feel, unselfishness, toughness and competitiveness are what separates him from other young prospects.

I spoke with Muhammad recently and asked him about the schools that have been in touch so far during the early stages of his recruitment.

"UCLA, USC, Arizona, Arizona State, UNLV, Kansas, North Carolina, Texas, San Diego State, Ohio State and Kentucky," said Muhammad."

I asked him if any schools stand out early for him.

"I like UCLA, Arizona, Arizona State, Texas, Kansas, North Carolina…UNLV is real close also," said Muhammad.

Muhammad said numerous schools have extended scholarship offers.

"USC, Arizona, Arizona State, UNLV, Kansas and San Diego State have offered," said Muhammad.

I asked Muhammad about the factors that will be important to him when he makes his choice.

"A school that fits me, where I like the campus," said Muhammad. "Someplace where I like the coach, with a style of play that fits me. The location doesn't really matter."

Muhammad said he doesn't anticipate an early decision.

"I think I want to wait and take my visits to see where I'm comfortable," said Muhammad.

I asked if he has any unofficial visits planned.

"We have a house in Los Angeles, so I'll probably visit UCLA and USC," said Muhammad. "I think we may also visit Ohio State."

Muhammad has already been on UCLA's campus, watching the UCLA Advanced Skills Camp in late June.

Muhammad said he currently has a 3.0 GPA.
