Josh Smith, the Colorado wide receiver who announced earlier in the summer he'd be leaving Boulder, has decided to transfer to UCLA.

The 6-1, 190-pound wide receiver and kick returner was one of Colorado's most dynamic players and their best deep threat offensively. As a sophomore, he finished the 2008 season with 387 yards receiving on 29 catches, and had 32 yards rushing. He also had 1,987 all-purpose yards, and set a Colorado school record with 1,568 kick-off return yards, including one return for a touchdown.

Smith, reportedly, wanted to leave Colorado primarily to pursue his musical aspirations and to be closer to home, originally from Moorpark, Calif. Smith wants to pursue a musical career after producing rap demos and CDs since high school.

Originally, a couple of months ago, it looked like the schools he could potentially transfer to were USC and Arizona State. But in the last month, UCLA looked to be the school he preferred.

Smith is also the uncle of standout Colorado junior tailback Darrell Scott. The Boulder Camera reported that Smith's departure likely won't sway Scott who, in fact, tried to convince Smith to remain at Colorado.

Smith will have to redshirt this season due to NCAA transfer rules, but will then be a redshirt junior for the 2010 season.
