Jordon James, the 5-10, 190-pound four-star running back from Corona Senior High School (Calif.), has scheduled four official visits already and says he'll make his announcement at the Under Armour All-Star game.
"I've been watching that game since the beginning," James said. "I've always wanted to make my announcement there and now I have my chance. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity to do something like that."
James, ranked as the No. 8 running back in the country by Scout.com, still denies a leader but favors Arizona, Notre Dame, UCLA, Washington, Tennessee and California. All of his favorites have offered as well as Nebraska, Oregon State, Stanford, Arizona State and Colorado, among others.
He takes his first official visit on Sept. 5 when the Huskies take on LSU. "The new coaches (at Washington) are doing something right," James said. "They picked up (quarterback) Nick Montana and are getting some good recruits.
"The coaches are very high energy and I like how upbeat and optimistic they are about this season," he said.
On Oct. 7 James will be taking his official visit to Arizona. "It's a beautiful school," he said. "It's a great area and I love the campus."
James has previously visited the Wildcats.
"I like the coaches there too," he said. "I'm very comfortable around then and they are really friendly. They've really been taking a lot of time to get to know me."
The only other school that James has already visited is UCLA. "I like the coaches there a lot," he said. "I'm real familiar with all of them and have a great relationship with them. Coach Rick Neuheisel is a great coach and he's getting some of the best players around. They are real serious about rebuilding and I'm sure they're going to be a lot better this year than they were last year."
James will be taking his official visit to UCLA on Nov. 21. He says he'll also be attending the Kansas State game on Sept. 19.
"I was at the UCLA camp last Friday (Aug. 14) and it was their first day in full pads," he said. "They looked great. They looked much better than they did in the spring. It really seems like they're now all on the same page."
One of the visits that James is most looking forward to taking is to Notre Dame. He visits the Irish on Oct. 17. "I've heard so many good things about Notre Dame," he said. "I've heard the campus is amazing and the academics are great too. I'm very curious to go there and see what it's like."
James says he's going to choose between Tennessee and California for his final official visit. "Cal is known for having good running backs and have put some good ones in the league recently," he said.
"I also like the new coaches at Tennessee and they're on the up-rise too," James said. "Like UCLA and Washington, Tennessee is going to be getting much better."
The only camp that James attended this summer was Colorado's.
"I'll take all my visits and see where I'm the most comfortable," he said. "I want to get along with all the coaches and players."
Corona Senior High School plays their first game on Sept. 11 against Arlington High.
James reports a 3.2 core GPA, an 850 SAT and 53 total ACT.
