Vander Blue didn't play in many events during the spring and summer circuit, but when he did, he made his presence known.
"I didn't get to play in as many tournaments as I wanted to because I decided to go to summer school, so I wanted to make sure that I left my mark," Blue, a four-star prospect, told Scout.com.
The 6-foot-3, 185-pound certainly made his mark. In fact, he's become one of the most pursued guards remaining in the 2010 class because of his ability to play both guard spots and to create for teammates.
"A lot of people tell me I'm combo, but in college I'm going to play point guard, so I'm working to get a lot better and just created for my team," Blue said. "In college I want to play the point so I classify myself as appoint guard."
"I put up numbers, but I still feel I could have played a lot better [this summer]," he continued. "Overall I'm just happy I got to play when I had the chance to. I thought I played decent, but I'm still working every day to get better. I'm never satisfied."
Originally a Wisconsin commit, Blue opted to open up his recruitment in mid-May. Since then he's gotten plenty of interest, but it especially picked up after performing well in July.
"I was surprised, but I committed early," he said. "So I never really gave the other college the opportunity to see me anyway. I was kind of surprised with the interest I'm getting. I know what I can do and I know I'm one of the elite players out there and I've gotten the opportunity to show that."
The Madison (Wisc.) Memorial standout has plenty of high major interest, but has yet to cut down his list.
"Right now I have about 25 offers," Blue said. "Me and my mentor are going to meet real soon and hopefully we can come up with something soon. And at least get the list down to where I'm going to take my official visits.
To this point, Blue has not set up any official visits. Although it's not a definite, he'd like to get the process over before the early signing period.
"Once we talk about it and hopefully I can get this done in the early signing period, but I don't know for sure."
