‘'It's just bothering me. It's just really frustrating. I've been out here for about two weeks now. I know it's a process, but it shouldn't be this long,'' Mobley said. ‘'My family has been waiting and telling me everything is all right, that it's a process. But I've got to get to school. I've got to play football. I've got to move on with my life from Ohio State. Really, I'm just frustrated.''
Mobley, a 4-star recruit coming out of Eden Prairie, Minn., in 2008, has been given no timetable when to expect a decision on his status at UCLA.
He said: ‘'I guess I've been accepted from everyone but the top person. They still want to review what classes I took at Ohio State, review everything else. I don't know. There's a whole bunch of stuff that wouldn't have to happen elsewhere except at a UC school really.''
Mobley said he has been in contact with coaches at UCLA almost daily, but he is aware that the quarter starts on Sept. 24 and time is slowly ticking away. He has not contacted any other schools at this point, but as he understands the NCAA transfer rules, he must be enrolled in school by the 12th day of the quarter to be eligible to play next season.
‘'Stay patient. If I have to (look elsewhere), I'm going to have to. But hopefully this gets worked out. Right now my decision is to be a Bruin, but if not, you know, I have to move on,'' he said. ‘'Right now I have another week or two before I have to make any decisions. I'm just hoping and praying that this all works out.''
While Mobley waits on word from UCLA admissions, he is sure of one thing.
‘'When I do get out on the practice field, I'll probably have 10 times the anger,'' he said. ‘'I have a lot of anger built up. It's been frustrating, just sitting around. I'm still working out and everything, it's just … I don't know, I've never not had football in my life.''
Editor's Note: We learned Friday that the transfer has been delayed due to a hold-up in the paperwork from Ohio State. Mobley is expected to be cleared to join the team next week.
