Bruins Offer 2011 Defensive End

Beverly Hills (Calif.) defensive end Greg Townsend received another hometown scholarship offer. The elite 2011 prospect now has four Pac-10 offers just two weeks into his junior year...

Beverly Hills (Calif.) defensive end Greg Townsend, a member of the Scout 100 for 2011, picked up his fourth Pac-10 offer this month.

"UCLA offered me, verbally and the official letter is coming," said Townsend.

Townsend said it was funny how it worked out.

"When I talked to Coach (Rick) Neuheisel at the UCLA practice (in August), he said he was going to be on me, recruiting me hard, but I didn't take that as an offer," said Townsend.

That got cleared up this week.

"He said that was the verbal offer, and he's sending out the written offer this week," said Townsend. "He was like, 'We offered you a long time ago.' So now I'll be attending the (Kansas State) game this Saturday."

The Bruins join Arizona State, Cal and USC in offering Townsend.

Townsend, who is 6-4 and 240, travels with his Beverly Hills team to Santa Barbara this weekend for their second game. They dropped their opener to Long Beach Jordan.
