Kevin Brown on UCLA

The big recruiting target, Long Beach Poly defensive tackle Kevin Brown, returned from his visit to UCLA yesterday and talked about where he stands...

Kevin Brown, a 6-2, 290 pound two-way lineman from Long Beach Poly (Calif.), visited UCLA this weekend and said the Bruins have made up a lot of ground on previous leader Florida State.

"I would have to say they're dead even right now," Brown said. "Last week, all I was thinking about was Florida State but now I'm glad I took this visit and didn't make any decision because at one point, I was thinking about committing to Florida State.

"The cool thing about Rodney Leisle was my host and he was really cool. He talked about how much the players believe in Coach Dorrell and how eager they are to play for him. He said was gone to the NFL until he talked to him and after meeting him, he knew he wanted to stay another year to be a part of the program.

"A lot of the players were talking like that. There's a different energy there than before. My mom loved it too, I mean really loved it. Maurice (Drew) kept telling me and Junior that we all need to stay home and play for UCLA and help build something there. It's going to be a tough decision and I'm going to take the whole week to weigh everything out. Coach Bowden (FSU)is coming over to our house on Thursday and then Coach Embree and Coach Johnson (UCLA) are coming over on Friday. I would like to make my decision by the weekend."

Brown is being recruited as a defensive lineman by UCLA and an offensive lineman by Florida State but said where he's being recruited will have no affect on his decision.
