Harrison Barnes, the 6-6 small forward from Ames (Iowa) High, who is the #1 prospect in the nation, had previously said he was going to wait until spring to decide.

But now Barnes said he expects to make his decision in time for the Fall Signing Period in November.

He has scheduled his official visits over the the next month, in order to get them in before Novembe.r

He took his first official visit to North Carolina on the weekend of Sept. 4, has scheduled the following four official visits plus one unofficial visit.

Oct. 2: Oklahoma
Oct. 9: UCLA
Oct. 16: Kansas
Oct. 23: Duke
Nov. 6: Iowa State (unofficial)

"To date, the Fall Contact Period is going extremely well," Barnes said. "I credit my previous unofficial visits for equipping me in making this process manageable."

Why did Barnes change his mind about spring?

"Initially not knowing what to expect while orchestrating the in-home and official visit schedules I didn't want to confine myself into making a fall decision without having adequate time to process all the information," Barnes said.

"I'm feeling confident what I once thought would be a regular signing period decision now will be an early signing period decision," he continued. "It has been humbling to see the support the six programs have shown me over the last year."
