Friday Prospect Preview: Week 3

After the big games last week, week 3 doesn't have the same drama, but there is a big clash in the OC involving UCLA prospects, and UCLA coaches will be out watching prospects up and down the west coast, including two of UCLA's committed players in Central California...

It's not a great week for games in the West, especially compared to last week's big matchups, but there are still a couple games worth watching.

Game of the Week: Servite at Edison
Two perennial powerhouses in Orange County meet in one of the biggest games in the county. Servite is led by UCLA target Kirifi Taula while Edison is led by underrated quarterback Matt Viles but will be without Stanford commit Jordan Zumwalt.

Brentwood Heritage at Danville Monte Vista
Brent Nottingham is off to an excellent start, with 325 yards a game and three touchdowns a game, and they face another non-league opponent in Heritage. Monte Vista is the top-ranked team in NorCal.

Pittsburg at Berkeley
With UCLA coaches in attendance, Pittsburg and four-star safety Erick Dargan look to snap their two-game losing streak against Berkeley, who's led by three-star running back Rickey Galvin.

Chula Vista Eastlake at Steele Canyon
UCLA commit Tony Jefferson and Eastlake tries to up their record from 1-1-1 when they visit Steele Canyon.

Santa Margarita at Encinitas La Costa Canyon
UCLA coaches will be at this one to see five-star receiver Kenny Stills and 2011 linebacker Ian Seau take on Santa Margarita, who's led by 2011 receiver Logan Sweet.

Riverside North at Crenshaw
Crenshaw's Hayes Pullard and DeAnthony Thomas will take on North, led by Utah commit Dres Anderson and running back E.J. Schexnayder in a big intersectional game between one of the Inland Empire's best and the City Section's top-ranked team.

Kaiser at Cajon
After losing to Riverside North, Kaiser, behind Josh Shirley, tries to get back on the winning track when they take on Cajon of San Bernardino.

Fresno Edison at Merced
The Tigers, led by two UCLA commits Wesley Flowers and Tevin McDonald, look to stay unbeaten against SacJoaquin powerhouse Merced, with UCLA coaches expected to be on hand.

Palos Verde Peninsiula at Gardena Serra
The vaunted Cavs offense looks to continue their hot start, while the defense, which has been stout all year, looks to do the same. Serra's been impressive on offense, led by junior quarterback Connor Preston and the receiving trio of Paul Richardson, Robert Woods and George Farmer.

Bellevue vs. Mount Si
Bellevue looks to snap its longest losing streak, two games, in 10 years when they face Mount Si in KingCo play. Led by UCLA commit Julious Moore, the Wolverines play their first game against an in-state program, after having played schools from Canada, Texas and California.

Brookhaven (Ohio) vs. Whetstone
New UCLA commit Derrick Bryant will try to push Brookhaven above .500 when they face Whetstone.

Orchard Lake St. Mary Prep vs. Detroit U-D Jesuit
UCLA pledge Earnest Thomas helped OLSMP to their first win of the season, and they'll try to even themselves at .500 with a win over U-D Jesuit.

Loyola vs. St. John Bosco
No Anthony Barr for the Cubs, but Jerry Neuheisel looks to be back this week after being knocked out with a concussion a week ago in this key Pac-5 game against St. John Bosco.

Other UCLA Offers in Action
La Canada St. Francis behind Dietrich Riley will take on Burbank Burroughs. Tesoro and Sil Ajawara host Villa Park. Palmdale and Josh Shaw take on Valencia and Brock Vereen.

UCLA targets and commits off this week
Anthony Jefferson and L.A. Cathedral have a buy before facing Eagle Rock next week. Oaks Christian and Malcolm Jones are off as well.
