Spencer Dinwiddie, 6-2 JR PG Woodland Hills (Calif.) Taft, is a very promising prospect with a significant upside. A true point guard, Dinwiddie is a long and lean prospect that plays the game the right way. He still needs to get physically stronger, but he shows all the signs of being a very good player down the road.
I spoke with Dinwiddie recently and he said that he's been hearing from a long list of schools.
"Maryland, Georgetown, Wake Forest, Arizona State, Arizona, Cal, Colorado, UNLV, Hawaii, Washington, UCLA, USC, Washington State, Montana State, Stanford, Kansas and Santa Clara," said Dinwiddie. "Hawaii, Montana State and Santa Clara have offered."
I asked Dinwiddie if he has had a chance to take any unofficial visits.
"I've been to UCLA, USC and I went to Washington's Elite Camp," said Dinwiddie.
Dinwiddie talked a little about the factors he'll consider when making his choice.
"Playing time, the academics definitely and just the whole college environment, "said Dinwiddie. "I want to go someplace where they have good fan support and basketball is a big thing. It would be cool to play in front of my family, but it's not that big a deal, especially with so many games on television now."
Dinwiddie doesn't see himself making a decision anytime soon.
"I'll probably decide around August next year," said Dinwiddie. "But if I fall in love with a school, maybe after the season around March or so."
Dinwiddie said he currently has a 3.0 GPA.
