Ward's Cancelled Visit is a Wrench

The highest-rated offensive line prospect in the state of California, Santa Ana Mater Dei's Chris Ward, had to cancel his official visit to Cal this last weekend, and now the time frame for a decision is uncertain...

Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei offensive lineman Chris Ward (6-5, 300) was scheduled to visit California this weekend, but those plans got altered when he tweaked his knee against Edison Thursday night.

"I couldn't go because late in the Edison game my knee got rolled up and it got tweaked a bit," said Ward. "It's not bad at all, though, and we have a bye week coming up."

Ward should have a clearer picture of the injury this week.

"I get it checked out tomorrow and they think my MCL just got stretched out a bit. I can walk on it fine and going up stairs is fine," said Ward.

So with the visit to Cal postponed, Ward anticipates still taking a visit to Berkeley.

"I will probably visit up there sometime after the season," said Ward.

He's in the same boat with UCLA.

"They want me to take an official after the season too," said Ward. Yet he'll still get a chance to see both schools in two weeks. "I am going to the Cal-UCLA game at the Rose Bowl (October 17th)," said Ward.

Whether or not this pushes back Ward's decision, though, is still uncertain. "I'm not sure yet when I'll announce," said Ward. "I'll know soon though."

Ward, the #1-ranked offensive lineman in the state of California for 2010, is fully qualified with a 3.65 GPA and a 1600 on the SAT.
