Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian receiver/safety Jordan Payton is one of the elite prospects in the country in the class of 2012.

Already, Payton has a pair of scholarship offers, both from outside the West, but you can expect to see Payton's offer sheet fill up in the next 2.5 years, especially beginning next September, when class of 2012 prospects can begin to receive official offers.

"I have a verbal offer from Florida International and a verbal offer from Akron," said Payton.

Payton knows, though, that things will change in terms of offers by next spring.

"I think for sure, more will come then, until then, I'm just trying to do my thing," said Payton. "We'll try to see how it goes."

With offers from the other side of the country, Payton said has interest in most of the Pac-10 schools.

"USC, UCLA, Cal, Washington, Stanford, Arizona State, those are just a few of the schools I like," said Payton. "And then some other schools nationally I like. But it's pretty early and I've got some time to see how it goes."

Payton and his Oaks teammates haven't had too many challenges this fall, but he was particularly giddy about their win over Skyline of Washington, their lone real challenge this season.

"I love that feeling when we have a close game," said Payton. "I love them."

Through week six, Payton has 17 receptions for 272 yards and five touchdowns. Defensively, he's added nine tackles, an interception and a pass deflection.
