It's Winding Down for James

Jordan James, the #13-ranked running back in the nation from Corona (Calif.) High, has taken three official visits and has two left to take, and he says he wants to get it all over with by November...

Jordon James, the 5-10, 190-pound four-star running back from Corona Senior High School (Calif.), has taken two official visits this month, to California and Notre Dame, and has two more scheduled for November.

James, ranked as the No. 13 running back in the country by Scout.com, said he now favors Cal slightly over Notre Dame, UCLA and Arizona. All of his favorites have offered.

He visited the Cal Bears on Oct. 3. "It's a nice place," he said about Berkeley. "The game wasn't very good (as they lost to USC), but I still liked it.

"I really like the coaches a lot," James said. "I felt very comfortable there and I like their style. They seem honest and they remind me a little of my coaches. They are all about the details and the little things.

"(Running back) coach Ron Gould actually said that I remind him of (running back) Jahvid Best and that we have similar personalities," he said.

While the Bears enjoy a slight lead, James said he could see himself playing at Notre Dame as well. "It was a wonderful trip," he said. "The campus is beautiful and it really opened my eyes being there. I could see myself going there."

What was his favorite thing about the Irish visit? "The atmosphere was very exciting," James said. "Every time they scored the crowd went crazy. I love the support they have."

James says that Notre Dame this season reminds him of his team. "We've lost a lot of close games too," he said. "It's pretty funny how Notre Dame keeps playing close games and so do we.

"They've really shown me a lot by fighting hard and not giving up," he said. "They probably should be undefeated."

Next up for James is an official visit to Arizona on Nov. 7. "I've been to Arizona before," he said. "But I'm really looking forward to the visit. I like the coaches a lot and how hard they are recruiting me.

"Arizona has been after me since the beginning," he said. "They've been after me for a long time.

"I love the speed they have on offense," he said about the Wildcats. "They said they'd be getting me about 25 carries per game and that they'd pitch it to me or give it to me up the middle a lot."

Following his visit to Arizona, James will be visiting UCLA on Nov. 21. "I think they've come along way," he said about the Bruins. "Coach Rick Neuheisel has done a good job and they are still getting better. I think if I went there we'd have a pretty good team in a few years. They are recruiting a lot of great players and I'm sure they'll turn it around."

James already took an official visit to Washington on Sept. 5, but says he's no longer considering the Huskies.

He plans on making his decision by the end of November. "I was gonna do it at the Under Armour All-Star game," he said. "But I'm getting tired of the process and want to get it over with sooner. I'll be making my announcement on the ESPN recruiting show. I don't have a date set yet."

James has seven touchdowns rushing and two scores receiving as well as one passing touchdown. His team is 2-5.

James reports a 3.2 core GPA, an 850 SAT and 53 total ACT.
