Still Committed But Taking Trips

Chula Vista (Calif.) Eastlake safety Tony Jefferson, who surprised many when he committed to UCLA during the summer, will be taking some visits this fall.

Jefferson gets things going this weekend, when he'll visit Oklahoma officially. The Sooners landed one of his close friends, Brennan Clay, from San Diego, and Clay has been talking up Oklahoma.

"Brennan is a good friend of mine and he's told me a lot about them, so I'm going to take a look at Oklahoma," said Jefferson.

Jefferson will then visit Big Ten and SEC schools next month.

"I'm going to Michigan on the 21st and then Florida on the 28th," said Jefferson. "And I'm setting up either Miami or Tennessee."

So where does that leave the Bruins in his recruitment?

"I'm committed to UCLA still and I'm going to officially visit UCLA," said Jefferson. "I just want a chance to see some other schools."

Jefferson committed to Stanford in September of 2008, then decommitted in the spring before seemingly, out of the blue, committing to UCLA.

At that point, Jefferson maintained he wanted to take some time and visit some schools. So although he says remains committed to UCLA, he's planning to exercise his five official visits.

"I just want to see what's out there," said Jefferson. "I've been to a couple of UCLA games and they've got a good future. I just want to be sure."

Jefferson is planning to be at the Rose Bowl next weekend when the Bruins host Washington, which will be his final chance to see them in Pasadena this year.
