Jefferson Takes Oklahoma Visit

Chula Vista (Calif.) Eastlake safety Tony Jefferson, who is verbally committed to UCLA, talked to us after taking his first official visit to Oklahoma this weekend...

Chula Vista (Calif.) Eastlake safety Tony Jefferson hastily added a visit to Oklahoma for this weekend, and Jefferson was more than happy he took his visit.

"I had an awesome time up there," said Jefferson. "Oklahoma was not what I expected. It's real fun."

Jefferson was hosted by safety Quinton Carter, but spent time with other players and coaches.

"I got a chance to talk with all of the coaches," said Jefferson. "I just talked mainly with Quinton, DeMarco Murray and Sam Bradford."

Jefferson, who plays some linebacker and primarily at running back for Eastlake, said the Sooners envision him as a safety for them.

"They want me as a safety," said Jefferson.

So what stood out most to Jefferson?

"The atmosphere and the relationship with the players and coaches and the relationship with the fans and the players," said Jefferson. "And the way that stadium is built is real nice.

Jefferson said fellow San Diego native Brennan Clay, who committed to Oklahoma in June, is relentlessly recruited Jefferson and another San Diego native, Kenny Stills.

"Oh yes he is," said Jefferson.

Jefferson said he still considers himself a commit to UCLA, but it's a soft one now, with his visits he's set up and taken.

"I'm taking all five of my trips," said Jefferson.

He'll visit Michigan next weekend and Oklahoma at the end of the month, as well as a visit to UCLA at a later date, then he's deciding between Miami and Tennessee for the last spot."

In the meantime, he's helped Eastlake win six in a row after an 0-1-1 start, and on a potential collision course against LCC and Stills.
