Prospect Round-Up: Week 12

Many UCLA-committed players and recruits are still alive in their respective high school playoffs. Running back Malcolm Jones had another big night last Friday, as did future UCLA quarterback Brett Nottingham...

Game of the Week: Danville Monte Vista def. Berkeley, 48-19
Monte Vista, led by UCLA committed quarterback Brett Nottingham, advanced to the CIF-NCS semifinals and a rematch with Concord De La Salle with a rout of Berkeley. Nottingham was 19-for-25 for 267 yards and threw three more touchdowns, to continue his excellent senior year. Berkeley running back Rickey Galvin, a Washington State commit, ran for 124 yards on 23 carries in the loss.

Oaks Christian def. Harvard-Westlake, 45-10
Unbeaten Oaks, and UCLA commit Malcolm Jones won their 27th straight CIF playoff game, with another blowout, this one of Harvard-Westlake. Jones rushed for 141 yards on 19 carries and scored four touchdowns. Defensively, he added five tackles.

Bellevue def. Union, 19-13
Bellevue and UCLA verbal Julious Moore moved on to the Washington State 3A title game with a win over Union, the same team they beat in the finals a year ago. Moore had a sack, two tackles for loss and forced a fumble in the win.

Anaheim Servite def. Long Beach Poly, 21-18
Servite and Kirifi Taula held off a late surge by the Jackrabbits to turn the two-time defending Pac-5 champs away, with a three-point win. It was the second time this year the Friars downed Poly, though this one was much closer than the 30-7 win earlier in the year. Servite scored the go-ahead touchdown with two minutes left than blocked a Poly field goal with no time left that would have tied the game.

East Grand Rapids def. Orchard Lake St. Mary Prep, 24-21
UCLA pledge Earnest Thomas and OLSM lost a heartbreaker in the state championship game. A second half rally by East Grand Rapids helped them to their fourth straight state title.

Fresno Edison def. San Joaquin Memorial, 17-7
UCLA cornerback Tevin McDonald and defensive lineman Wesley Flowers helped the Tigers in holding SJM's vaunted running game to just 69 yards on the ground and the Tigers move on to the CIF-Central Section semifinals.

Crenshaw def. Westchester, 55-0
UCLA target Hayes Pullard anchored the Cougars stout defense, which pitched a shutout and five-star 2011 prospect DeAnthony Thomas had two touchdowns, to keep the Cougars unbeaten and move them to the CIF-City Section Semifinals, where they'll face Coliseum League rival Dorsey.

Other UCLA Offers in Action
La Costa Canyon and Kenny Stills downed Ramona, 49-14 to move on to the CIF-San Diego Section semifinals. Pittsburg, with Erick Dargan back in action, topped Deer Valley, 26-0, with Dargan recording an interception. Carson and Wade Yandall secured the Marine League title with a 38-20 win over San Pedro. Josh Shirley and Fontana Kaiser beat Rim of the World, 28-13 to move to the CIF-SS Eastern Division semifinals. Kody Innes and Saguaro had their season end in the state semifinals in a 28-6 loss to Tucson Sabino.
