Friday Prospect Preview: Week 13

It's semifinal action up and down the Golden State and several of UCLA's recruits are in action, including a big clash between Oaks Christian and Cathedral and a rematch of De La Salle-Monte Vista...

Game of the Week: Oaks Christian vs. Los Angeles Cathedral
The Lions look to extend their CIF-SS playoff winning streak to 28 games, but they'll be tested by an 11-1 Phantoms squad, who gave Serra all it could handle for 3.5 quarters. Oaks is paced by UCLA commit Malcolm Jones, who was named the Gatorade California State Player of the Year. Cathedral's primary weapon is receiver/cornerback Anthony Jefferson, whom UCLA is also targeting.

Danville Monte Vista vs. Concord De La Salle
Monte Vista, led by UCLA committed quarterback Brett Nottingham, will get their second crack at De La Salle in the CIF-NCS semifinals. De La Salle rallied for a 28-21 win over Monte Vista earlier in the year, which triggered a three-game losing streak by MV, but they've won five straight since, behind the arm of Nottingham.

Gardena Serra vs. Santa Maria St. Joseph's
The Cavaliers, which are led by junior defensive end Jason Gibson, whom UCLA has offered, as well as UCLA target Paul Richardson, head up the coast to take on St. Joseph, led by K.J. Cusack in the semifinals in the CIF-SS Northwest Division playoffs. The winner plays the winner of Cathedral/Oaks Christian.

Bellevue vs. Liberty
Bellevue and UCLA verbal Julious Moore aim for their second straight state title and sixth this decade when they face Liberty in the 3A state finals. Moore was injured in the finals last year, but when we talked to him last weekend, he's chomping at the bit to return to the Tacoma Dome for the final game. This is a rematch of an earlier season matchup which Bellevue won.

Anaheim Servite vs. Mission Viejo
Servite and UCLA target Kirifi Taula take on unbeaten Mission Viejo in the CIF-SS Pac-5 semifinals. Servite comes in with an 11-1 record and a good chance at the CIF State Division II title game while Mission Viejo, led by fast-rising quarterback Dallin McEwan hopes to advance to the Open Division or D-I state game.

Fresno Edison vs. Tulare Union
There will be talent all over the field with Edison boasting UCLA commits at cornerback Tevin McDonald and defensive lineman Wesley Flowers and another three-star recruit, Rykeem Yates. Tulare Union has a pair of three-stars of their own, Washington State commit Marquess Wilson at receiver and Fresno State verbal Edward Dillihunt at linebacker.

Crenshaw vs. Dorsey
UCLA target Hayes Pullard and five-star 2011 prospect DeAnthony Thomas helped the Cougars to a 44-7 rout of the Dons earlier in the season, but Dorsey is hoping to change the results in the CIF-City Section semifinals when the two meet tonight for the right to advance to the Coliseum next weekend.

Carson vs. Narbonne
In another rematch of two teams who met earlier this year, Carson, with UCLA target Wade Yandall, will face Narbonne, and their talented squad, led by Sean Parker, the top safety in the West, and will try for the sweep of the Gauchos, with the winner playing the Crenshaw-Dorsey winner next week.

Other UCLA Offers in Action
La Costa Canyon and Kenny Stills take on Vista in the CIF-San Diego Section semifinals. Pittsburg, with Erick Dargan ready to play on both sides of the ball for the first time since September, take on Fremont Washington. Josh Shirley and Fontana Kaiser host Palm Springs on Saturday night.
