But the four-star expects January to change all of that.
"Recruiting has been pretty good lately," said Shirley. "It's the same old, same old. I've just been thinking a lot more."
Shirley said that he's still focusing on eight schools, with no one having been eliminated.
The hardest part for Shirley has been deciding where he'll trip next to.
"I'm trying to figure out what my last three visits should be," said Shirley. "I'm deciding between Miami, Notre Dame, Cal, Tennessee, USC and UCLA."
Shirley has already visited Washington and Arizona, doing so during the season.
With the dead period starting this weekend, then Shirley's participation in the U.S. Army All-American Game set for early January, he'll use the rest of January to take his three remaining trips.
"I'm going to announce on Signing Day," said Shirley. "I thought I would be announcing at the Army Game but that is too soon."
Shirley has had in-home visits with Miami, Washington and Arizona and the remainder of the schools are working on scheduling their in-homes with him.
"I don't have any other ones set just yet," said Shirley.
In the meantime, he's looking forward to his time in San Antonio, where he'll play linebacker for the West.
