Brandon Ashley Gets Early Attention

Brandon Ashley, a very promising, 6-7 post player in the class of 2012 from Northern California, has early interest from four Pac-10 programs. He says one stands out for him at this time...

Brandon Ashley, 6-7 PF San Francisco (Calif.) Bishop O'Dowd, is a terrific young prospect with a very high upside. A very agile and skilled big man, Ashley has an excellent approach to the game. He has improved dramatically in the last couple years. With continued development, he projects as an elite player down the road.

I spoke with Ashley recently and asked him about the programs that have been recruiting him to date.

"Cal, UCLA, Stanford and Arizona have been the main four," said Ashley.

I asked Ashley if any program stands out for him at the moment.

"Cal stands out right now," said Ashley. "It's close to home and they have been reaching out the most to me right now."

When questioned about the factors that might influence his choice, Ashley replied, "I don't want to go too far and I just want to be able to fit in. I'm trying to win and I would like to play early."

Ashley has been on a few unofficial visits already.

"I've been to Stanford and Cal," said Ashley. "And I kinda saw UCLA the other day a little when I went to their game."

Ashley said no school has offered to date and he's not sure about a potential time frame for making his decision.

Ashley said he has a 3.1 GPA.
