Signing Day Surprise: Shirley

Josh Shirley, the #12-ranked outside linebacker in the nation who it appeared had gone separate ways with UCLA, pulled the Signing Day shocker by picking up the Bruin hat on the FSN Signing Day Show...

Fontana (Calif.) Kaiser linebacker Josh Shirley, a U.S. Army All-American, has picked UCLA, in a stunner.

"Me and my family thought long and hard about this, and I'll be attending UCLA," said Shirley, who chose the Bruins over "That was where my heart always was. Coach (Rick) Neuheisel, he's someone who will take care of me, watch over me. It's where my heart always came out."

Shirley picked the Bruins over Washington, Miami, and USC.

In Shirley, the land one of the best pass-rushers in the country.

"It's a blessing for it to come to this," said Shirley.

Shirley starred as a defensive end as a junior, with 18 sacks, then moved to linebacker as a senior, where he projects to play in college.

He was named to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, and scored a touchdown in that game.
