Robert Upshaw, a very promising, 6-10 sophomore post player from Fresno (Calif.) Edison, says many schools have shown interest in him so far, but a Big 12 program has shown the most...
, 6-10 SO C Fresno (Calif.) Edison, is one of the elite big men in the West Coast class of 2012. Upshaw has a very good frame, with nice hands, and a very high upside. His skill level has improved quite a bit in the last year and he's now showing the ability to shoot out to three-point range. With continued development, he has a chance to be one of the top prospects in the country for 2012.
I spoke with Upshaw recently and asked about the schools that have been in contact with him to date.
"Texas, Tennessee and UCLA have been the main ones," said Upshaw. "I think Texas may offer soon."
I asked Upshaw if he had a feel for which school has been recruiting him the hardest.
"Texas has been showing the most interest -- they're recruiting me the hardest," said Upshaw. "They've been out to my games and practices."
When questioned about the factors he'll consider when choosing a school, Upshaw replied, "I just want a good program with good academics. I don't really care about the location."
Upshaw said he has an idea as to when he'd like to make his decision.
"I think I'll decide sometime around the end of my junior season," said Upshaw.
Upshaw said he has a 3.3 GPA.
