Pomona (Calif.) Diamond Ranch safety Aaron Almond is one of the top prospects in the San Gabriel Valley for 2011, and already the 6-0, 204-pound Almond is boasting a scholarship offer.

"It was very exciting to get that first offer from San Jose State," said Almond. "It was a relief. They offered me as a safety."

Several more programs are in contact with Almond. "I've been hearing a lot from Oregon State, Oregon, Arizona, Arizona State and UCLA," said Almond.

Almond said his childhood favorite was Miami, but he's since made favorites with a West Coast school. "Oregon has kind of been my dream school from the Pac-10," said Almond.

Almond said UCLA is also a school of interest for him, with his former teammate, Brandon Sermons, currently with the Bruins.

"It would be real cool to play with Brandon again," said Almond. "He's a real good player and UCLA is close to home."

Almond was one of the standouts on Team B2G, which won the Las Vegas Badger/New Level 7on7 earlier this month.

He plans to camp at the B2G Elite Football Program again this summer, and will be at the Nike Camp in Los Angeles next month.

Almond isn't in a rush to make a decision. "I want to take some official visits and check some schools out," said Almond.

Academically, Almond has a 2.5 GPA and took the SAT last weekend.

As a 2009 junior, Almond was named All-Miramonte League after recording 101 tackles, five forced fumbles and three sacks.
