Matt Carlino Interested in UCLA

The 6-2, junior shooting guard, Matt Carlino, who de-committed from Indiana last week, is very interested in UCLA, according to good sources close to the recruitment. And there is another twist to the story...

Good sources are indicating that UCLA could be the new leader for Matt Carlino, the 6-2 junior shooting guard from Bloomington (Ind.) South.

Carlino de-committed from Indiana last week, and indicated to Scout.com's Evan Daneils he was going to re-open his recruitment.

"(Indiana) Coach (Tom) Crean and his staff have been great to me," Carlino wrote in a text message. "However, I feel that I committed too early and although I like Indiana I felt it would be good to explore other options."

Carlino committed to Indiana in August of 2008, going into his sophomore year.

The guard is originally from Arizona, having played his first two high school seasons at Gilbert (Ariz.) Highland, where his father was the coach. He then moved with his family to Indiana, in order to get settled in the community where he was going to attend college.

It is unclear whether the Carlinos will remain in Indiana now that he has de-committed from the Hoosiers.

But sources are clear that Carlino is very interested in UCLA.

There is also the possibility that Carlino could be academically eligible to graduate from high school after this school year, and enroll in college a year early.
