Cooper On Way to Visit UCLA

Darian Cooper, the defensive tackle prospect from Hyattsville (Maryland) DeMatha Catholic, said just a week ago that he wanted to visit the west coast and UCLA.

He delivered on his promise pretty quickly.

"I am heading out to see UCLA and USC," said Cooper. "I had a chance to go with a friend at the last minute so I am going out."

The 6-2, 290-pound Cooper is one of the most sought-after recruits on the east coast. He currently has seven scholarship offers and a ton of other schools recruiting him aggressively. UCLA is among the schools that have offered and USC is one he's hoping will soon.

Cooper talked to us at the airport as he was about to board his plan, so his time was limited. He did say, though: "UCLA has already offered me and I want to see the campus. USC coaches have been talking to me a lot so I thought I would bring my game film and hand it to them in person. It was a lucky thing to be able to go now and I wasn't going to miss the chance. I can't wait to get out there."

Besides the UCLA offer, Cooper currently holds six others, from East Carolina, Marshall, Penn State, Michigan, Maryland and Illinois.
