Blackwell Favors Cali Schools

Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei receiver Victor Blackwell (6-1, 195), a top 10 receiver nationally, is heavily favoring staying on the West Coast.

But despite not having any ties to the South, Blackwell is still hoping for offers from a couple of Southern schools before he makes his choice.

"I'm kind of ready to start narrowing my list down because I want to commit by August, so I'm trying to get as many offers as possible to choose from," said Blackwell.

And Blackwell has a handful of schools in the lead.

"My top schools are Cal and UCLA and I want to go down South to Georgia and Miami and check them out but I don't have offers yet," said Blackwell. "I like Oregon State as well."

For now, Cal, UCLA and Notre Dame are his top schools.

"I like Cal a lot and then UCLA a lot too and Notre Dame, they've offered too," said Blackwell.

Blackwell's last two quarterbacks, though, Matt Barkley and now Max Wittek, are either at, or committed to USC, and Blackwell is still waiting for an offer from them.

"I may go to their camp, but it's a maybe right now," said Blackwell.

Whether Blackwell does any more camps this spring and summer, depends on track, save the Badger/New Level 7on7 in Alabama, where he'll play with Team 1925 at the National Championship tournament.

Blackwell had 52 receptions for 1,044 and scored 11 touchdowns in 2009.
