While recruiting has picked up for him even more, with double-digit offers, McClure has been focusing on track, where he's one of the premier jumpers in San Diego.
McClure has the top triple-jump mark in San Diego this year, jumping a personal best 48-6 last Saturday at the section prelims. He also qualified for the section meet in the long jump.
In the meantime, he's mixing in some workouts with the football team as they prepare for spring practice to begin next week.
"It's been busy, but it's going really good right now with both football and track," said McClure. "My knee (which he slightly injured in the section championship game, breaking his kneecap) is 100% and it's feeling good. I'm going to do some camps this summer."
McClure, who owns offers from Arizona, Boise State, Colorado, Colorado State, Minnesota, Oregon, Oregon State, San Diego State, UCLA and Washington, said that he doesn't have a timeframe in place for when he'll decide.
"I know I want to take my five official visits and see all of the schools I'm serious about," said McClure. "So I probably won't decide until after then."
McClure said Boise State Oregon, Oregon State, UCLA and Washington are some of the major schools who've been by his school. And Tennessee is planning to come out and potentially offer him.
"I have family in Tennessee so I'd love to get an offer from them, and maybe take a trip out there," said McClure. "Miami is another school who could be coming by and could offer me."
McClure said he doesn't have a leader, but said that Boise State, where his good friend and teammate Troy Ware signed, Oregon, UCLA and Washington stood out to him.
Academically, McClure has a 3.2 GPA and is awaiting his SAT scores.
