White Emerges with Big Spring

Lakewood (Calif.) offensive tackle Torian White has starred at numerous camps this spring, and he's got one Pac-10 offer with the potential for more as he makes some more camp appearances this month...

Lakewood (Calif.) offensive lineman Torian White has capitalized on the offseason camp circuit, showing his ability since his junior year was lost to injury.

"I had a hernia last year, so that kind of put me behind, and it put me out for the entire season. But I'm back now and things are going well," said White. "I did really good at the Nike Combine as a sophomore, but then I didn't play. And I've changed a lot since then physically."

White was named to Scout.com's Los Angeles NFTC All-Camp Team, was the top offensive lineman at the GFA Football Combine and was named the Top Lineman at the AIGA Big Man Challenge.

So far, so good for White, who's also got his first offer in.

"Washington State offered me. The offensive line coach (Steve Morton), I talked to him and he said he liked me a lot," said White. "I'll probably go up there during the summer. They like me as an offensive tackle. It's pretty exciting to have an offer already. I'm just waiting to see what else I get."

A host of schools are interested in White.

"Arizona State, Oregon, Arizona and some other Pac-10 schools, plus USC, UCLA and Miami," said White. "I like Cal a lot too. Not too many schools know about me outside of the West."

White is planning to camp or take unofficial visits to a couple of Pac-10 schools, besides Washington State.

"I'm planning to go check out Arizona State and then camp at USC and UCLA this month," said White.

At 6-6, 275, White still looks pretty lean, with a frame that should easily add 25-30 pounds.

"I'm getting bigger and strong, and I spent last year working against (Notre Dame signee) Justin Utupo and it helped me with my technique," said White. "This year, I'm going against Todd Barr.

Academically, White has a 3.0 and scored a 1200 on the SAT.
