Gilmore At the Start of Recruitment

One of the emerging prospects in the 2012 class among wide receivers is 6-3, 195-pound Malik Gilmore from Lakewood (Calif.) High. Gilmore has had a good spring and has started to hear from collge programs...

Few players have impressed us this spring like Lakewood (Calif.) receiver Malik Gilmore (6-3, 195).

The class of 2012 prospect is making a case for being one of the premier playmakers in the West.

Despite missing his sophomore year with an MCL tear, Gilmore is coming back and his offseason shows he's progressing just fine.

As far as his early recruiting is going, several schools are showing interest in him.

"I'm getting a little bit of action, getting a few letters here and there, but still waiting on my first offer," said Gilmore. "Most schools said they want to be able to see some game film before they offer, and I've got two years so I think I have some time to show them."

The schools that have shown interest include Washington, UCLA, Colorado and USC, among others.

"I kind of want to stay in the Pac-10, so I like schools like Washington, Stanford, Cal, UCLA and USC," said Gilmore.

Gilmore has done the UCLA 1-Day Camp and will be at USC's Rising Stars next week, while continuing to do passing league for the Lancers.

He was an all-camp performer at the Vegas Badger/New Level 7on7 in March, the Los Angeles NFTC and the Stanford NFTC.
