Bruins Add More Beef To Class

UCLA went to the Lone Star State to get a commitment from the 6th-ranked center in the nation, making it the Bruins' sixth commitment in the class of 2011 and their fourth along the offensive line...

UCLA has committed themselves to landing offensive linemen in this class, and just added their fourth lineman to the class of 2011, going down to Texas for Plano East center Jacob Brendel.

"He committed to UCLA," said his mother Carol Koch. "It was a difficult decision because he had 15 written offers, but UCLA is where he wanted to go."

Brendel and his mother were in Westwood last month for an unofficial visit and that's where the Bruins captured his attention.

"We were there a couple of weeks ago and he really liked it there," said his mother. "He really liked the coach, Coach (Rick) Neuheisel."

Brendel committed to offensive line coach Bob Palcic and got a chance to talk with Neuheisel today.

"He made it official today when he talked with Coach Neuheisel," said his mother.

With Brendel's commitment, the Bruins now have a pair of tackles in Torian White from Lakewood and Marc Mustoe from Arvada (Colo.) West and a versatile lineman in Ben Wysocki from Los Alamitos (Calif.).

We'll have more from Brendel on Tuesday.
