Shelton Talks About UCLA

One of the best defensive tackle prospects on the west coast, Danny Shelton from Auburn, Washington, gets another scholarship offer and talks about the schools he's considering, including what he thought about UCLA on his unofficial visit...

Danny Shelton, the 6-foot-3, 286-pound four-star defensive tackle from Auburn Senior High School in Auburn, Wash., got his ninth and latest scholarship offer about a month ago from Hawaii and says the Warriors are now in his top five.

Shelton, ranked as the No. 26 defensive tackle in the country by, still favors Washington and Oregon solidly over UCLA, California and Hawaii. All have offered.

"Hawaii seems like a great place," Shelton said. "They've always had a good defensive line and I like how they play quick and tough. The guys are all big islanders like me, so I'd probably fit in well."

This summer Shelton attended camps at Oregon State and UCLA.

"UCLA was really fun," he said. "I liked it a lot and I won MVP at the lineman camp.

"It's a beautiful campus," he said about the Bruins. "I really liked walking around and seeing everything. I like that the weather is great and that the campus is big and open." "They're both great," he said about the Ducks and Huskies. "They've close to my house too.

"U-Dub is young and I think they'll have a top team in the next few years," he said about the Huskies.

"And Oregon is already a winning program and I love all the facilities there," he said. "I really like how they practice and the kind of defense they run."

Shelton says he also has offers from Oregon State, Washington State, Stanford and Idaho.

He doesn't have any official visits scheduled yet and says he won't take any until after his senior season. Shelton doesn't plan on making a decision until near signing day.

Shelton reports a 3.6 core GPA and a 1260 SAT.
