Devon Blackmon, the 6-1 athlete from Fontana (Calif.) Summit, recently talked to Scout.com about his recruitment.

Top college choices?
Cal, Oregon, UCLA, Alabama, Florida, USC, and Washington are at the top.

Cal -- "Close to home and I like the coach."

Florida -- "What is there not to like about it? I mean you have everything -- the education, the coaches history, the NFL experience. Look what have they done in the past 2 years."

UCLA -- "It is real close to home and you come in there and have a good chance to starting and build a program."

Alabama -- "It's the mecca of all football. If I go there I could be really great or really bad so if I go there I am gonna have to stick with my decision."

Favorite?
Not right now. They're all equal.

What have you been up to this summer?
I just been working out with some players and perfecting my craft, doing some camps.

What you're looking for in a school?
Population size, education, how to be a better person off the field. As an athlete you are in the spotlight all the time. How do they treat their players off their field? How do they conduct the players to act off the field? Do they only worship your talents because your character is gonna get you a long way.

Plans for the rest of the summer?
Relax, be with my team and tell them what I have experienced this summer. Enjoy my summer, this is gonna be my senior year, I am just gonna relax.

Bigger scholarship offers?
Alabama, Florida, UCLA, USC, Oregon, Utah, Georgia, and LSU.

Current Grades:
2.8 GPA/1300 SAT

Goals/Expectations?
Win CIS and play as a team this year.
