Brandin Cooks, the 5-11, 185-pound wide receiver prospect from Stockton (Calif.) Lincoln, had a very impressive showing at the recent Gridiron Kings competition in Florida.

Talk about your recent experience at Gridiron Kings:
I was real excited to get invited and then I just wanted to go and get better and go with all those athletes that are not usually around my area.

What made you commit to UCLA?
The LA atmosphere is unbelievable and just UCLA itself is a great education and a have a lot of connections coming out of college. They have great coaches and Coach Neuheisel, I got a feeling about him. He is gonna turn it around.

A few things that you were looking for in a school before you committed?
Education, a great football team, and you know where they us e their receivers a lot. I am a receiver; obviously I don't want to be going to a running offense. The area, not too far from home, it's still in California, I am just five hours away, my mom can come see my games. My mom is a single parent and that played a lot in it.

Have you been recruited since you committed?
I had a lot of offers before I committed from schools from all over.

Are you done with recruiting or do you have some other colleges you want to look at?
UCLA, I am steady about that. I am pretty much done with it, but during the process I would have loved to see SEC schools come in. I know I can play at the next level and play at that competition. Like Florida, I mean, it's Florida, a lot of competition, a lot of people are going to the league from there. So it's a great atmosphere.

What have you been doing this summer?
This summer I only went to one camp and that was the Nike National Combine. I went down there and blew it up and won MVP. I was pretty excited about that. This is my second one and last one before the season starts and I am excited about this.

Any unofficials?
I went to UCLA, that was the only unofficial I went to. It was unbelievable; the campus was great, a beautiful campus, very big. The stadium is unbelievable, it's the Rose bowl.

Current Grades:
3.3. GPA and a 1298 SAT but I am gonna take that again for pride.

Goals and expectations next season?
Keep everything going, just stay healthy and work hard, stay motivated and be a leader. As a team, go out there and play and play for a title, maybe more.
