Bradley injured his right ankle about three weeks ago and it was believed to be a severe sprain. During UConn's first practice Saturday he was limited to shooting at a side basket and riding a stationary bicycle.
Bradley also participated in the Oct. 12 Husky Run, although he walked most of the 3-plus mile course.
Here's the update released by UConn's department of athletic communications Monday evening:
"Upon further examination by the UConn medical staff, it has been determined that men's basketball player Michael Bradley has a fractured right ankle that will require corrective surgery. He is expected to undergo that procedure later this week and will then go through six weeks of rehabilitation, returning to action in early December."
Bradley, from Chattanooga, Tenn., sat out last season as a redshirt but the coaching staff was pleased with his work during the offseason and there are expectations that Bradley can play a role on UConn's front line behind Andre Drummond, Alex Oriakhi and Tyler Olander.
