Big Games in Big East This Week

It seems appropriate that this is Halloween. Lots of scary things happening to Big East teams lately. The conference has some big games this week with Louisville at West Virginia and Cincinnati at Pittsburgh. Maybe that will clear things up a bit in the standings.

Big East Conference power rankings for Week 10 of the college football season:

1. Cincinnati (6-1, 2-0): The Bearcats were off last week and remain the only unbeaten team in conference games. Cincinnati has a big test Saturday at Pitt, but the Panthers are beat up with injuries and will really miss running back Ray Graham the rest of the season.

2. West Virginia (6-2, 2-1): The Mountaineers proved once again that they are a strong second half team. They battled the snow and came back to defeat Rutgers. We still expect WVU to finish first.

3. Louisville (4-4, 2-1): The Cardinals are playing tremendous defense and if you do that in the Big East, you can rise from the bottom all the way to No. 3 – which is exactly what we've done here with Louisville. Big game coming up at West Virginia.

4. Rutgers (5-3, 2-2): Tough second half for the Scarlet Knights against West Virginia. That may come back to haunt them like a Halloween trick.

5. Pitt (4-4, 2-1): The Panthers keep the training room and hospitals busy, but Tino Sunseri found the passing game and that was enough to crush UConn last week.

6. Syracuse (5-3, 1-2): How do you beat West Virginia one week and then lose to Louisville the next? Watch video of the Orange and you will find out. Very bad showing against Louisville.

7. UConn (3-5, 1-2): Too many problems to list here. The Huskies are playing like the worst team in the conference – but they did beat South Florida. Head-to-head keeps UConn ahead of USF.

8. South Florida (4-3, 0-3): Winless in the Big East, including that loss to UConn. That sends the Bulls to the back of the line.
