BATTLE 4 ATLANTIS: UConn will play three games in three days in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament in Nassau, Bahamas. The Huskies will open play against UNC Asheville on Thursday and face either UCF or the College of Charleston the following day. UMass, Harvard, Utah and Florida State make up the other side of the bracket. For the entire tournament bracket, go to the UConnPlaybook.com forums page.

TOURNAMENT TESTED: UConn is 15-2 in early season neutral site tournament play since 2005, including two championships at the Maui Invitational and one at the Paradise Jam.

WIN STREAK: UConn has a 15-game winning streak, the longest in the nation, dating back to last season. That equals the third best in school history. UConn's record is 23 consecutive wins, set in 1995-96. The Huskies won 19 consecutive in 1998-99.

ASHEVILLE: The UNC Asheville Bulldogs are the preseason favorite to win the 2012 Big South Conference championship. Senior guard Matt Dickey is the Big South preseason player of the year. Last year he led Asheville in scoring (15.7 ppg) and three-pointers made (65) and was second in assists (111) and steals (64). Coach Eddie Biedenbach has 216 wins at the school in 15-plus seasons. Asheville has lost this season to North Carolina State and to North Carolina.

THAT'S JUST THE WAY IT IS: Keith Hornsby, freshman guard for UNC Asheville, is the son of Grammy-award winning artist Bruce Hornsby and played prep ball at the prestigious Oak Hill Academy. His father performed the national anthem last Sunday when the Bulldogs opened their new Kimmel Arena against North Carolina.

POLL WATCHING: UConn remains No. 4 in both polls this week and received two first-place votes in the Associated Press poll. The only other ranked team in the tournament field is Florida State, No. 22 in the AP poll and No. 20 in the ESPN/USA Today poll. UConn is 2-4 all-time against Florida State, but it would be extremely helpful to UConn's RPI to play a game against a ranked opponent. Here are UConn's series histories with the rest of the field: Central Florida (3-0), College of Charleston (3-0), Harvard (14-2), UMass (69-39), and Utah (3-1).

QUOTE: "This will give our school and our program some great exposure this week We're going to be rubbing shoulders with some great college basketball programs and this week's tournament can only make us a better basketball team no matter what happens." – UNC Asheville coach Eddie Biednbach.
