Officially a Big Addition

Here's the official tale-of-the-tape on Andreas Knappe, the offensive tackle from Denmark who committed to the Connecticut football program earlier this month. Knappe has been admitted to UConn and was officially added to the 2012 roster this week, according to athletic department spokesman Mike Enright.

Enright said the freshman is being listed at 6-9 and 310 pounds.

That's a big addition. And word is that the coaching staff is very excited about his potential.

Knappe is awaiting authorization of his travel visa. That's the only thing holding up Knappe's arrival in Storrs. According to Enright, UConn hopes that situation can be resolved so that Knappe can arrive in time for the start of camp on Aug. 3.

UPDATE (July 26): Despite several reports that Knappe was recruited as an offensive tackle - and speculation about the impact he could have on the offensive line - UConn has listed him on the roster as a defensive lineman. Mike Enright said today that "he is coming in as DL but may get a look at OL too."

So, I guess we will just have to wait and see. Obviously more will be known when Knappe actually arrives in Connecticut.
