UConn and Ohio State will be the elite programs in the Challenge and will face each other as part of a quadrupleheader on Dec. 1, 2013 in Springfield, Mass. The other games in Springfield that day will have Marist playing Old Dominion, Monmouth against Boston University and St. Bonaventure taking on Bowling Green.
Prior to the games in Springfield the exempt status tournament will feature three games at Ohio State and UConn. The other teams in UConn's pool will be Boston University, Old Dominion and St. Bonaventure. Marist, Bowling Green and Monmouth will play at Ohio State. Those games will be played on three consecutive days between Nov. 22 and Nov. 27, 2013.
"We are very pleased to be a part of the inaugural Women's Basketball Hall of Fame Challenge," UConn coach Geno Auriemma said in a release. "There are some really good teams in the field and it will be a lot of fun to showcase our game in the birthplace of college basketball. This should end up being a very successful event and I would like to express my appreciation to the Hall of Fame for making this concept a reality."
