Hartley Sprains Ankle

STORRS – Connecticut guards Bria Hartley and Moriah Jefferson were unable to participate in practice Tuesday because of injuries.

Hartley has a sprained left ankle and is expected to miss a few days, possibly up to a week. She is currently wearing a supportive walking boot on that foot. Jefferson strained her groin on Monday, missing practice on that day as well as Tuesday. She is currently day-to-day with her injury status.

"It's a little bit of a challenge right now, but other than that we're pretty far along," coach Geno Auriemma said about what he has seen from his team through four days of practice. "It's evident that you can see what's possible. I wish we had everybody available right now so that we could move a little bit quicker, but we have a lot of time."

Last season Hartley was third on the team in scoring, averaging 14 points per game and was second in assists, averaging 3.7 assists per game. Jefferson, a former McDonalds All-American in high school, is a freshman from Glen Heights, Texas.
