UConn Backs Health Campaign

Press conference Thursday at Rentschler Field will detail plans for a men's health campaign known as "Man Up."

The Connecticut athletic department is joining forces with state comptroller Kevin Lembo to endorse a statewide men's health campaign that will be known as "Man Up."

Details of the campaign will be unveiled Thursday during a press conference at Rentschler Field.

According to a news release, Lembo will be joined by key partners in the campaign, including Dr. Frank M. Torti, executive vice president for health affairs for the University of Connecticut Health Center and dean of the UConn School of Medicine; UConn Athletic Director Warde Manuel; and other spokesmen who will share their health survival stories, including Donald "Dee" Rowe, former UConn men's basketball head coach who is also a 20-year cancer survivor.
